004 // Video - Action // In which Sora makes a friend

[Hey there, Vatheon! Time for a homely little broadcast of a cozy looking ...  stable? Since when did Vatheon have horses? Must be new. The screen pans slowly, revealing a vast open field, bordered by a rickety white fence. Sora's voice speaks off screen:]

Hey guys- check out what showed up at Nostalgia Nook!

[And then woa! Fluffy yellow feathers invade the screen. The SFC shakes as the person holding it begins to laugh. Sora swivels the SFC on himself. His hood is caught in the beak of a rather large bird. Behind him are several more, nearly twice Sora's height and scattered throughout the field.]

They're called Chocobos. Some are pretty friendly. The guy at the stable? He says I can have one if I take good care of it! [Another Chocobo head bobs into the screen, nibbling at the end of a spike of Sora's hair. He doesn't seem to mind.] You can even ride them, but you gotta train em' first.

Oh. And when you sing, sometimes they'll dance. Watch!

[The screen swivels around, squaring on an unassuming Chocobo several yards ahead. Sora clears his throat, and begins to whistle a tune. The bird in question quirks its head at the SFC and surprise, surprise, it actually begins to dance! It bobs, sways, rolls its head, warking rather excitedly, drawing attention of other ones nearby who more or less begin to do the same.]

[Just when things start getting interesting, that's when it all stops: there's a loud, irritated wark right behind the SFC. Sora has halted his musical performance and the screen has wandered away from the dancing chocobo as if Sora has become distracted offscreen. Could be trouble...]

Uhh.... hey there... You want some greens, is that it?

I'm sure I've got some around here. Hang on a sec....H-hey!

Wait, what're you - Oh no!!

[The screen finally jerks around, catching a flash Sora being tugged backwards, his hood caught in the beak of a rather irate looking bird. The broadcast stops.]

[Roxas was chilling on the fence watching the dancing chocobos with a rather amused but awed countenance until uh oh. That one chocobo sure seemed angry. This didn't look good.]

H-hey! Don't do that. [he turns his attention towards his other.] Sora, I think you should get out of there.

[Honestly, why are you being dragged like that. :| Laaame.]

Ow- [It's not his fault, okay? He's still learning how to do this. Sora suffers one last tug by his jacket, stumbling back a few steps before the Chocobo finally settles down.]

It's okay! See? They just... get a little excited sometimes!

[He's still fishing around for some greens. Maybe that'll calm the thing down. R-Roxas... help?]

[The chocobo dragging Sora away halts, startled by the sudden appearance. G-good going, Demyx, now it's feathers are all ruffled! It gives a warning squawk, which causes Sora to duck away just a bit]

*Selphie is beyond being in awe. Her eyes are huge and her mouth is hanging slightly open*

CHOCOBOS?! IN VATHEON?!

*She giggles as she watches on the SFC, then tilts her head at the chocobo*

[After Sora's managed to free himself, he gets the message from Selphie.]

A different song? Hmmm... I've got a couple I can try.

... Wait a minute, you've seen Chocobos before?

[Oh hey. It's the cranky guy!] Is there anything you don't hate?

Anyway, Nostalgia Nook's this part of the Lower District that changes all the time. Sometimes if you're lucky, shops that sell stuff from your world will appear.

[Flynn's been wanting to visit Nostalgia Nook for a while, now, and only goes today because he decides to give himself a break from patrolling the city. He sees the video post a few seconds before he sees the big bird drag the poor kid away.

When he gets there, he doesn't see any food to placate the angry chocobo, and it's dangerous to approach an animal in this state. So, the Commandant does a crazy idea brought up by the teenager's example.

He whistles a different song, loud enough for the angry chocobo to hear it, at least.]

[Smooth moves, Flynn! You've got the Chocobo's attention. It swivels its head around at the tune before trudging over to the fence with Sora stumbling in tow.]

S-slow down!

[He gives Flynn a helpless smile.]

[You're getting one of Yuna's first honest smiles since she's been here, Sora. Maybe Vatheon isn't as different from Spira as she thought.

Oh, but that kid looks like he's having trouble.]

You should try petting its feathers under its beak! The ones I know seem to like that.

[Sora's not being dragged anymore, but he's not making progress in getting away from this particular Chocobo. Now it's pulling at his sleeve, but at least they've stopped moving.]

You mean like under its chin? You sure about this?

More like I- [There's a pause as Sora is pestered by the same bird. He pushes it away long enough to answer (though it isn't long before the Chocobo is up to the same mischief all over again).]

[Raenef can probably see the culprit behind him now, looming over him, peering at the SFC.]

Chocobos, as in, the huge giant useful birds that his parents didn't ever want to get him, mostly because they weren't pet people but also because it just seemed, somehow, like a bad idea to them.

But Lea is ignoring that.

Since Sora is clearly occupied, Lea doesn't even bother to talk on the SFC. He just gets on his A-T and gets there as quick as his excitable ass can get him.]</sub>

[While Lea's on his mad dash towards the field in the Lower District, Sora's pretty busy trying to reclaim his jacket for himself. Luckily the Chocobo lets go of his hood in favor of trying to nip at his SFC, which Sora shoves into his pocket for safekeeping. Just in case.]

They don't take that much training before you can ride them, you know, you just have to not fall off. The training just makes it easier.

[Sora doesn't answer for a moment, placing a palm at the side of its head to try and discourage it from shredding his jacket. It only deters it for a few moments before it's at it again. Sora peers down at the SFC, though.]

They must be from somebody's world. [If they're in Nostalgia Nook, they've got to be.]

[Sora looks up. Blinks.] Oh no, I'll be okay. I just need to be a more firm with this guy...

[Sora plants his feet! He won't be dragged along anymore. He is using his leadership skills, see? Until the Chocobo starts walking again and Sora finds himself stumbling backwards a few steps. Woa, okay fine he's pretty much at the mercy of this thing.]

... Maybe just a little help?

[Once Sora's upright again, he looks down at the SFC. Looks like someone's about as excited as he was first time he saw one of these things. This guy kinda looks like Karkat. Must be a troll.][

[He laughs.] That's what I thought too.

Trolls don't have Chocobos where you come from, right?
