lockandkeyblade | 004 // Video - Action // In which Sora makes a friend

[Hey there, Vatheon! Time for a homely little broadcast of a cozy looking ... stable? Since when did Vatheon have horses? Must be new. The screen pans slowly, revealing a vast open field, bordered by a rickety white fence. Sora's voice speaks off screen:]

Hey guys- check out what showed up at Nostalgia Nook!

[And then woa! Fluffy yellow feathers invade the screen. The SFC shakes as the person holding it begins to laugh. Sora swivels the SFC on himself. His hood is caught in the beak of a rather large bird. Behind him are several more, nearly twice Sora's height and scattered throughout the field.]

They're called Chocobos. Some are pretty friendly. The guy at the stable? He says I can have one if I take good care of it! [Another Chocobo head bobs into the screen, nibbling at the end of a spike of Sora's hair. He doesn't seem to mind.] You can even ride them, but you gotta train em' first.

Oh. And when you sing, sometimes they'll dance. Watch!

[The screen swivels around, squaring on an unassuming Chocobo several yards ahead. Sora clears his throat, and begins to whistle a tune. The bird in question quirks its head at the SFC and surprise, surprise, it actually begins to dance! It bobs, sways, rolls its head, warking rather excitedly, drawing attention of other ones nearby who more or less begin to do the same.]

[Just when things start getting interesting, that's when it all stops: there's a loud, irritated wark right behind the SFC. Sora has halted his musical performance and the screen has wandered away from the dancing chocobo as if Sora has become distracted offscreen. Could be trouble...]

Uhh.... hey there... You want some greens, is that it?

I'm sure I've got some around here. Hang on a sec....H-hey!

Wait, what're you - Oh no!!

[The screen finally jerks around, catching a flash Sora being tugged backwards, his hood caught in the beak of a rather irate looking bird. The broadcast stops.]

[Uuhhh... How to put this.] A little bit? Surprised, even!

[WOW. Either Raenef was really bad or-]

Huh! You're one of those really hard-to-scare types, aren't you? You must be pretty brave or something, Sora.

Could be? Remember, I've had a lot of people try and scare me before. I'm sure if I were a normal person, I'd feel completely different.

[He's nodding and talking more to himself now]

Yeah, totally. You're just not a normal person.

But why did so many people try and scare you? [snaps fingers] Oh, I know! You have other Demon Lord friends!

Not quite... They weren't exactly friends. The people that tried to scare me were all enemies.

Sorry to say, Raenef. But I'm one of the people Eclipse wouldn't want you talking to. I'm kind of a good guy.

Well, that's not very nice. I scare people because I have to. I'm not anybody's enemy.

Huh, you don't say? [This requires some deep thought here, Sora] I guess I should ask him if you and me can be friends first. I hope he says yes! I really like you, Sora.

Too bad not everybody's like you. It'd be a much nicer place.

I like you too, Raenef. But do you really think Eclipse'll let us hang out?

Hmmm... [This is a toughie] It's worth a shot! I don't want to lose you as a friend.

And hey,you're kind of like my friend Chris only less loud and much nicer. And Eclipse likes him now kinda... sorta... sometimes... I'm sure he'll like you too.

Definitely worth a shot. It was pretty fun having you as my sidekick.

Anyway, what happens if he says we can't hang out?

Yeah, that was pretty fun! Especially the par- [......wat.] Um... Sora, I think you've got the wrong person or something. I was never your sidekick.

And if he says we can't, I'll... uh... [What to do? He didn't want to lie to Eclipse. But Sora was super fun and kind of cool, even if he didn't get scared easily.] I'll tell him that we have to be friends anyway! He'll come around soon enough.

[He grins a little.] My mistake. [Only not. He'll let Raenef figure that one out on his own.]

Sounds good to me. We'll just have to get on his good side. If not you can always use your scary voice.

[Raenef laughs] Yeah, you've got it all wrong, Sora. I was the sidekick of a cute, little kid with funny hair and a stick! Not a Sora-kid with funny hair. [Obviously. Sora didn't even have a fighting stick!] He was fighting the invisitible monsters. [Whatever that meant...] Hope he's okay...

Eclipse always listens to my scary voice! Well usually. When he's not laughing...

[Sora reaches up and pulls at one of his spikes. Funny hair, huh?] I wouldn't worry about him if I were you. If he can fight invisible monsters, I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

I did. The kid was really fun! A little weird though, but fun. Actually, no. He was really weird. And silly. Who fights invisible monsters anyway? [Yeah, that kid was cuckoo for cocoa puffs] And he didn't seem to like that I was a Demon Lord.

...but he was nice. [He laughs] He kinda reminds me of you, Sora!

[Oh this is funny. Way too funny. Let's see where this goes.]

You really think me and that kid are alike? How so?

[Let's see here...]

You both like to do fun things, like the chocolatebos and the adventures! And you both have funny hair. [No really, how do you get it that way every day, Sora? It's like styled bed-head to Raenef. He thought Chris was the only one who could pull it off.] And you both get really excited over stuff. And you both use the word sidekick though I'm not really sure why you-

Wait a second.

[He sees what's going on here! For shame, Sora. Trying to pull a fast one like that on Raenef. But he's a clever little demon lord, you think he wouldn't figure it out?]

Why didn't you tell me you had a little brother, Sora?

[Tsk. Tsk.]

[Sora laughs.]

Finally. You know I was starting to think you'd never-

... come again?

[Raenef shakes his head; he didn't think Sora would be someone to forget family. Tsk.]

[Sora is just quiet on the line for a moment.]

Raenef...

Huh? Did you remember your little brother yet?

... I don't have a brother.

............Sora.

[Dun. Dun. DUN!]
