004 // Video - Action // In which Sora makes a friend

[Hey there, Vatheon! Time for a homely little broadcast of a cozy looking ... stable? Since when did Vatheon have horses? Must be new. The screen pans slowly, revealing a vast open field, bordered by a rickety white fence. Sora's voice speaks off screen:]

Hey guys- check out what showed up at Nostalgia Nook!

[And then woa! Fluffy yellow feathers invade the screen. The SFC shakes as the person holding it begins to laugh. Sora swivels the SFC on himself. His hood is caught in the beak of a rather large bird. Behind him are several more, nearly twice Sora's height and scattered throughout the field.]

They're called Chocobos. Some are pretty friendly. The guy at the stable? He says I can have one if I take good care of it! [Another Chocobo head bobs into the screen, nibbling at the end of a spike of Sora's hair. He doesn't seem to mind.] You can even ride them, but you gotta train em' first.

Oh. And when you sing, sometimes they'll dance. Watch!

[The screen swivels around, squaring on an unassuming Chocobo several yards ahead. Sora clears his throat, and begins to whistle a tune. The bird in question quirks its head at the SFC and surprise, surprise, it actually begins to dance! It bobs, sways, rolls its head, warking rather excitedly, drawing attention of other ones nearby who more or less begin to do the same.]

[Just when things start getting interesting, that's when it all stops: there's a loud, irritated wark right behind the SFC. Sora has halted his musical performance and the screen has wandered away from the dancing chocobo as if Sora has become distracted offscreen. Could be trouble...]

Uhh.... hey there... You want some greens, is that it?

I'm sure I've got some around here. Hang on a sec....H-hey!

Wait, what're you - Oh no!!

[The screen finally jerks around, catching a flash Sora being tugged backwards, his hood caught in the beak of a rather irate looking bird. The broadcast stops.]

How about we meet down here at the ranch? No good being cooped up in that old mansion all the time. Some sunshine'll do you some good.

[ The urge to say 'yes, mother', is great, but she doesn't. Instead, she shrugs, but nods. ]

Very well -- I shouldn't be long.

See you soon!

[The Chocobo shoves its way into the screen. Warks at it. And then the feed cuts.]

[ She nods, and then twitches at the friggin' Chocobo.

She's got her work cut out for her with this one.

It isn't long before Integra manages to find her way into the ranch, and after a bit of searching, she finds poor Sora and the creature. ] My, my...

[Sora's poised at the edge of the corral, just inside the white fence. The Chocobo's nudging Sora's pack, as if it smells something inside. When Sora looks up, he waves.]

Integra! Glad you made it.

Guess it's time for you two to meet, huh?

[ She chuckles and waves back, stuffing her hands in her pockets as she approaches. She glances over at the Chocobo, smirking. ]

It's good to see you again, Sora.

I suppose so. I still think you should name it Santa.

It's good to see you too...

Heeyyy. [He pouts.] One of these days, we're gonna prove it. Then you'll see. Ema says she's gonna help me do it too.

Oh? [ Sora you just made things ten times worse for yourself. She grins. ] Ema, you say? I don't believe I've met her. Is she your girlfriend?

Ema? My girlfriend? [He... he should just stop opening his mouth.] Who said anything about a girlfriend!? We're just friends!

Sure you are. Does she believe in Santa, too?

[ The heiress chuckles, before setting her sights on the Chocobo standing directly behind her friend. ]

...Are you sure you don't have anything that it wants? Perhaps that's why it's following you around, hm?

Sure she does! I mean... I think so. Why else would she help me prove it?

[He tilts his head in thought. And then shakes it.]

Anyway, this big guy right here ate one of my potions... Oh. I used to have some greens in my pack. But I fed it to some other Chocobo earlier, so I don't have any more. I can't figure why it keeps following me.

[The Chocobo lifts its head and peers at Integra with beady black eyes. It gives a single 'Wark.']

Because if she is your girlfriend, whether or not she believes in Santa wouldn't matter. She'd try and help you prove it, no matter what. I believe the term is 'true love'.

[ She arches a brow, listening intently as she just. Staaaaares at the Chocobo. ] I see. Well, he seems harmless enough...

She's just a friend who happens to be a girl, that's all. We barely even know each other, she can't be my girlfriend!

[He hasn't even had his first kiss yet! ~~That one when he was five doesn't count.~~]

[The Chocobo strides forward, around Sora before leaning in, aiming to nip the button at the end of Integra's sleeve.]

Thus making her your girlfriend. Really, Sir Sora... I had no idea you were so bold~.

[ tchhh kiss or no kiss, that doesn't matter!

Integra's reflexes are lightning fast, and she's quick to merely... push the large bird's head away. ] You know, on second thought, you may as well name this thing Alucard. Disobedient, ridiculous, and easily distracted by somethng shiny...

Really, Integra- She's not! She just wants to help. I mean, I have a bunch of friends who are girls. It's not just Ema, you know.

[Ohoho- you are a quick one. But the Chocobo will not be deterred. Once pushed away, it just shakes its head and goes in for another attempt.]

Uh-huh.

[ She chuckles, unable to move fast enough this time around, and she twitches, staring at the Chocobo. Her eyes narrow. ]

Rip that button off, and this will be the worst day of your life, bird.

[Sora and Chocobo have similar reactions, both pulling back their heads, peering cautiously at Integra. Sora's is less severe, but he's suddenly reminded of why Integra's able to reign in Alucard.]

[ Poor Sora. Unfortunately, she's not done. She's only just begun. Without hesistation, Integra merely climbs over the fence, and once she's on the other side, she's marching towards the poor Chocobo, a finger raised to prod it's beak. ]

You will listen to me, and you will listen well, do you understand me?

[The Chocobo only gives a low, helpless whistle in reply. With a touch, the rowdy Chocobo has been tamed. Conquered.]

[Sora's beside her. Gaping.]

H-how'd you do that!?

...Good. [ With that, she reaches up to pet the poor thing.

Glancing to Sora, she chuckles. ]

Hm? I suppose you could say I inherited this ability from my grandfather.

He could do that too?

[Integra can probably see the gears turning as he imagines the man, broad shoulders and large stature, towering over Chocobos.]

Yes. He is the one who captured Alucard, after all, and forced him into the servitude of my family. You see, Alucard has been passed down from my grandfather, to my late father, and then to me... although, I stumbled upon him by accident.

[ Oh she can see it. If only she had a picture of her grandfather and father. ]

He must've been a fearsome guy. He had to be.

How do you even catch somebody like Alucard?

He was, indeed.

It's complicated, really. It involved lots of time, and lots of magic -- however, the records that my grandfather made of the incident were lost over time. Did you ever take notice of the markings on Alucard's gloves and hands?

Actually I was more worried about those guns. And maybe his teeth after he ate that one guy...
