[Hey there, Vatheon! Time for a homely little broadcast of a cozy looking ... stable? Since when did Vatheon have horses? Must be new. The screen pans slowly, revealing a vast open field, bordered by a rickety white fence. Sora's voice speaks off screen:]

Hey guys- check out what showed up at Nostalgia Nook!

[And then woa! Fluffy yellow feathers invade the screen. The SFC shakes as the person holding it begins to laugh. Sora swivels the SFC on himself. His hood is caught in the beak of a rather large bird. Behind him are several more, nearly twice Sora's height and scattered throughout the field.]

They're called Chocobos. Some are pretty friendly. The guy at the stable? He says I can have one if I take good care of it! [Another Chocobo head bobs into the screen, nibbling at the end of a spike of Sora's hair. He doesn't seem to mind.] You can even ride them, but you gotta train em' first.

Oh. And when you sing, sometimes they'll dance. Watch!

[The screen swivels around, squaring on an unassuming Chocobo several yards ahead. Sora clears his throat, and begins to whistle a tune. The bird in question quirks its head at the SFC and surprise, surprise, it actually begins to dance! It bobs, sways, rolls its head, warking rather excitedly, drawing attention of other ones nearby who more or less begin to do the same.]

[Just when things start getting interesting, that's when it all stops: there's a loud, irritated wark right behind the SFC. Sora has halted his musical performance and the screen has wandered away from the dancing chocobo as if Sora has become distracted offscreen. Could be trouble...]

Uhh.... hey there... You want some greens, is that it?

I'm sure I've got some around here. Hang on a sec....H-hey!

Wait, what're you - Oh no!!

[The screen finally jerks around, catching a flash Sora being tugged backwards, his hood caught in the beak of a rather irate looking bird. The broadcast stops.]

[The Chocobo only gives a low, helpless whistle in reply. With a touch, the rowdy Chocobo has been tamed. Conquered.]

[Sora's beside her. Gaping.]

H-how'd you do that!?

Well, whadda these suckers eat, then? Besides backpacks and short kids with spiky hair?

[If he could just get the bird to let go of Sora for a minute, he could get the both of them out of the pen using a corridor--the kid had already proven he'd be fine moving through them, swanky black coat not necessary. But he wasn't about to test what would happen to a giant chicken if it was dragged halfway into a corridor of darkness...]

[Sora just sighs, exasperated.]

I think there's some Gysahl greens in the crate around that pen. If you could just- Whoa!

...Good. [ With that, she reaches up to pet the poor thing.

Glancing to Sora, she chuckles. ]

Hm? I suppose you could say I inherited this ability from my grandfather.

[~~/takes it as a compliment either way.~~ The feathers were nice, but it makes him miss Repede more, so he briefly stops, despite the Chocobo's possible objections.]

Really now? I wonder how fast this one would go. [Facing the Chocobo again, he cracks a smile and asks almost tauntingly.] So are you really as awesome as the kid says?

Yeah, they arrived with me. Six of them.

Then I will draw you one later. [He smiles, and he's always willing to help, Sora! He can give tips like a pro!]

By the way, these...Chocobos, was it? What exactly are they?

[A small pause.]

Wanna find out?

They're kinda like your mounts, only really big birds. You can raise em' for pets, but the Keeper tells me they're mostly used for riding. A bunch of the ones in the stable are racing Chocobos too.

Must be nice to bring along friends.

At least you'll always have company.

He could do that too?

[Integra can probably see the gears turning as he imagines the man, broad shoulders and large stature, towering over Chocobos.]

What've you got in mind?

You can't just come down to see the Chocobos. You gotta make it an experience!

The keeper at the shops says he's got a couple of racing Chocobos in the stable, if you catch my drift.

... Hey that's not a bad idea. Of course if I fall off and get a concussion I'll be having your neck for it. [Again, joking.]

[He smiled out to agree to that.]

... That's so true. For the longest time, they've been the only closest connections to my home. The five of them were actually in sleep comas when they first arrived... But some time ago, they were able to wake up.

Yes. He is the one who captured Alucard, after all, and forced him into the servitude of my family. You see, Alucard has been passed down from my grandfather, to my late father, and then to me... although, I stumbled upon him by accident.

[ Oh she can see it. If only she had a picture of her grandfather and father. ]

Really!?

Sleep comas? That's rough.

I wonder what finally woke them up.

They do seem a bit too big to keep as a pet. Hm...perhaps I shall try my hand at riding one someday. Is this your first time with Chocobos?

That's why the ranch is around. Ca't keep em' in your apartment. That'd e crazy.

Yeah! We didn't have anything like these guys on the islands. I wanna learn to ride them too.

Really.

You can do all sorts of stuff here. You wanna try feeding one?

[GASP.]

Whoa! Y-yeah! I want t-to....feed one!

You sure you wanna give this to me? I mean, I'm grateful and everything, but if it's that special, shouldn't you keep it?

[A laugh.] You got it. I'll tell you things.

And only seeable monsters from now on.
