[So Sora's sitting on the steps in front of the Vita Apartments eating ice cream, but he doesn't seem all that interested in it. It's just sitting there, starting to melt all over his hand. He's lost in thought, looking frustrated, bordering on confused or annoyed.]

... I got a question...

Is anybody out there some kinda hero where they came from?

[He hesitates.]

Or anybody, really.

... How'd you end up figuring the good guys from the bad?

'Good' and 'Bad' are terms created by those who have power or want to obtain power, dear. Relative terms. The world is not black and white.

[Bayonetta... Luka trusts her. Values her opinion. Loves her. Sora takes a deep breath. She must be someone special. So he doesn't hesitate.]

But it is black and white. It's Light, and Dark and... sure there's other things besides that, but...

I need to know. It's about keeping people safe. About keeping... the order of the worlds.

If I can't figure out if someone's a 'bad guy' or not...

I am an Umbra Witch. Our affinity is that of the Dark, of Demons, and of the Moon. Our Light counterparts, the Lumen Sages, are what many people consider to be 'good', they are affiliated with Angels.

They are hardly 'good'. The brutal wars against us. Then when we were tired, they had the humans hunt us down.

Light and Dark are terms that mean nothing. They will always mean nothing.

[Sora falls back into silence. Bayonetta's essentially turned everything he knows upside down and sideways. He doesn't even know where to start. It's hard for Sora to let go of his definitions of Light and Dark, and so a part of him still clings to it as he flounders in confusion.]

But that can't be... You can't be with the Darkness, where I come from, all the darkness does is ruin everything. It destroys worlds, takes peoples' hearts. Everything it touches falls apart.

But that is my nature, darling. I am an Umbra Witch, 500 years old. I have a demon contract and sponsor. I have demons at my beck and call, and weapons and skills that can annihilate creatures beyond your comprehension, little one. When I die, I will dragged down to Hell, such is our fate as Umbra.

That man knows more about me, personally, and my kind than any other person in the world. His father wanted to expose the truth about the Lumen Sages, about the Wars and the Hunts. About our very existence to the world. But they killed him for his writings.

[Sora looks away, feeling like he's learned something infinitely personal about his friend Luka. So that's why his father died.]
